Tour Description

The Monster-Truck-Safari goes on an all-day excursion to the backlands. The tour starts in the morning at 9am in Higuey.

Higuey is located 52kms from Punta Cana (Bavaro), far from tourism, in the back land. The city has approximately 115.000 inhabitants and the well known Basilica Virgen de Altagracia built 1954-1972 can be seen. Here, too, you will be transferred with busses from your hotel to the Monster parking.

Each truck carries, beer, soda, pops, water, or drinks mixed with rum, served to you by our professional staff.

Let the adventure begin! We travel on dirt roads and through rivers while our trained tour guides inform you via microphone abpupt what's going on around you.

1st Stop

We visit a Dominican rural family in their home. There you learn interesting information about the people of the countryside.
You are offered fresh brewed coffee from hand ground beans and shown around the house where you will realize how many people can actually live in such a small house and still keep everything neat and clean; simple but beautiful.

2nd Stop

We visit a Dominican rooster fight arena which is typical of this island (optional). You will find them everywhere, even in the smallest villages. With a small demonstration you will get some background info of this sport and find out that it is only half as cruel as its reputation.

3rd Stop

We visit a fruit plantation where you will learn about planting, marketing and profit. Of course, there is also something to taste for you, specially when the fruits already look so good on the trees. Bon appetit!

4th Stop

We visit a small community far from any city with a church, school and a "colmado" (local grocery store).
This visit will certainly stay in your memory as the village people are really nice folks.

5th Stop

Finally! After so much adventure we arrive at our finca, located along the beautiful Rio Chavon, where a Dominican buffet awaits you. Our restaurant is supervised by the Cristal America program to guaranty the highest standard of hygiene and food handling process (we have received 3 consecutive awards as the best excursion ranch).
You have the time to relax before the next stop of our trip. Take a refreshing swim in the river or just "hang out" in a hammock or take a seat at our bar and drink one (or two ?) Cuba libre, Santo libre or coco loco!

6th Stop

Tobacco museum; Do you know how difficult it is to roll a cigar? Here you learn everything about tobacco, planting, harvesting, drying and finally processing.
You will learn what to know about a good cigar and of course, how to smoke one correctly. Maybe you even want to try one! Have fun.

The tour ends around 4:30 pm in Higuey and you will be transferred back to the hotel.
